Russian boxer Madiev lost at a tournament in Almaty

Russian boxer Magomed Madiev lost to Ecuadorian Abel Mina on Saturday, April 27, in Almaty. The fight took place as part of the IBA Night of Champions tournament in the up to 75 kg weight category and ended in a unanimous decision of the judges.

I wanted to fight more, to box beautifully, but my opponent didn’t allow me to do this - he constantly tied me up and ran away. I wanted to express myself emotionally, and I succeeded, but I didn’t manage to prepare properly. This is how the circumstances turned out, but everything is fine. What's happened? Due to family circumstances. With good preparation, everything will be fine ,” Madiev said after the fight.

The athlete suffered the fourth defeat in his career; he also has 16 wins (5 by knockout) and one draw.

Earlier on Saturday, April 27, the Russian women's team took first place in the team event at the European Boxing Championships in Belgrade. Three representatives of the Russian national team won gold medals on Sunday, April 28. The decisive fights for men will take place on Sunday; nine Russians will box in the finals. The tournament will end on April 28.
